The TOEFL® ITP has an academic approach and focuses on listening comprehension, structure and written expression, and reading.
The TOEFL® ITP has an academic focus – it evaluates language used in an academic context, at basic to intermediate to advanced levels. There are 140 multiple-choice questions that evaluate the skills of non-native speakers of English in 3 areas:
Listening comprehension – 50 questions
Structure and written expression – 40 questions
Reading – 50 questions
The test takes about 115 minutes to administer.
Once the answer sheets are received by ETS Middle East for scoring, the results will be available very quickly. Each section is scored separately – this gives an indication of the areas that need more work; you can thus tailor courses and teaching to meet student needs.
ETS Middle East provides institutions with score reports that are available as individual score reports as well as institutional score reports and rosters.
