  • The test is grounded in rigorous psychometric  standards.
  • Each item is tested to ensure that it measures what it is supposed to in a fair, valid and reliable  way.
  • The test itself is validated on parallel forms that are comparable across test forms and test groups.
  • 2 barometers serve as guidelines to maintain the objectivity and fairness of the TOEIC® test:
  • The ETS Fairness Review requires ETS to review all tests and test materials to ensure that they do not include insensitive or offensive material.
  • The ETS Standards for Quality and Fairness comprise quality assurance steps addressing audit requirements, assessment developmental, use and administration procedures, suitability for use, customer service, fairness, uses and protection of information, validity, reliability, cut scores, scaling and equating, reporting assessment results, and test takers’ rights and responsibilities.
