TOEIC® test for companies
TOEIC® test is a useful assessment tool that can aid in the recruitment and training of employees
The TOEIC® test (TEST OF ENGLISH FOR INTERNATIONAL COMMUNICATION™) is an ETS tool that measures proficiency in international business English, at intermediate and advanced levels. It provides an accurate measurement of the listening, reading and grammar competencies of the candidate. With more than 4.5 million test takers per year, the TOEIC® test is the standard for measuring workplace English language proficiency worldwide. Companies can use the TOEIC® test in 2 domains: 1) As a recruitment tool: Use TOEIC® scores to set a relevant minimum language score requirement for a position in your company; good TOEIC® scores will indicate the preparedness and ability of the candidate to work in an international context, and to communicate effectively with your clients, vendors and other employees.
2) As a certification tool: use the TOEIC® scores as part of your training programmes - To develop essential language skills in your employees,
- To identify employees who require further English language training; to set learning goals, and to monitor their progress,
- To determine whether an individual has sufficient English proficiency to participate in, and benefit from training that will be conducted in English,
- To make promotion decisions involving particular job profiles that needs English skills.
ETS provides test takers with a can-do table that can be included with the CV when communicating the TOEIC® score. This grid presents possible scores and the corresponding English skills associated with each; in other words, a picture of what the individual can and cannot do. This is an effective tool that you can use as a part of your recruitment cycle. Hence, companies can use the TOEIC® test to facilitate - Recruitment,
- Training,
- Assessment of international mobility of employees,
- Internal job promotion.
